Conference entertainment: how to engage participants without disrupting the agenda
How do you choose entertainment for a corporate conference? Compare 10 formats and the criteria that help engage participants without disrupting the agenda.

By 3:30 p.m., even a strong speaker is competing with phones, inboxes and thoughts of going home. The right activity can bring the audience back into the room, but the wrong one becomes just another item to sit through. The difference is not scale; it is the activity's role in the agenda and a clear answer to one question: why are we including it?
A game show is one option, not a universal solution for every conference. Below, we compare it with other formats and explain when each makes sense. If this is the format you are considering, start with our corporate game show guide.
What role can a conference attraction play?
The most common goals are:
- activation of energy at the beginning of the day,
- interruption of a long series of speeches,
- introducing brand content in a lighter form,
- facilitating conversations between participants,
- integration of employees from different departments,
- building a common finale to the event.
One activity does not need to fulfil every function. The more precisely the organiser defines the goal, the easier it is for a supplier to recommend the right duration, scale and delivery method.
In the Decision to Attend 2 study covering nearly 9,000 potential and current event participants, the three most important participation factors were education, place and networking. The study concerned association events, so its results should not be directly transferred to every Polish company conference. However, it is a good reminder that the attraction should not obscure the reasons why people come to the event.
Ten formats - and ten different uses
1. Live game show
It works well as an energetic programme highlight, a finale or a transition from the conference sessions into the evening. Participants compete at game stations while the host, app and live leaderboard make the action engaging for the whole room. The full format is described in our corporate game show guide.
2. Quiz on the conference topic
It can summarize presentations or check knowledge of the industry. It is important that it does not turn into an exam. Questions should be short, varied and understandable without specialized knowledge available only to part of the group.
3. Moderated networking
Short rounds of conversations with a specific question or task help participants start connecting. However, the format needs clear guidance and time control, especially in a large hall.
4. Panel with audience voting
Participants can select questions, respond to statements or choose the subject of the next segment. This gives the audience meaningful influence without handing over control of the wider agenda.
5. Brand or product knowledge game
It is useful during premieres, sales meetings and internal conferences. However, promotional content needs to be balanced with humor and general questions to keep the game interesting.
6. Short Team Challenge
A dozen or so minute task can help connect people sitting at one table. You need to check in advance whether it requires materials that are difficult to distribute and collect in a large group.
7. Demo area
This works well during breaks because people can participate when it suits them. It will not replace a shared agenda item when the goal is to involve the entire room at once.
8. Photo or video activation
It can create material for post-event communication. It requires good marking, efficient handling and prior determination of the rules for publishing the image.
9. Guided question and answer session
A properly moderated Q&A can be more engaging than an additional attraction. The selection of questions, pace and a person who can respond to the audience are key.
10. A shared finale with a leaderboard and prizes
Regardless of previous activities, a clear ending helps participants feel that they have participated in one event. It could be the finale of the game, the announcement of the results, or a short segment from the stage.
How to choose a format according to the group size
At a smaller conference, table-based conversations and tasks may be enough. As attendance grows, screen visibility, sound, professional hosting and a clear participation model become much more important.
It is not enough to ask whether an activity can “handle a hundred people”. Check how many people participate at once, how many have to wait, what the audience can see and how long group changes take. We cover this in more detail in our guide to team building for 50-100 people.
It is worth thinking beyond the few hours spent in the room. An analysis of 2.5 million participants across 2,000 events found that much of the networking starts before an event and continues afterwards. A stage activity can give people a shared topic, but it cannot replace good pre-event communication or space for conversations after the main programme.
Why a game show can fit a conference agenda
Rewanż has a specific hosting team, its own consoles, app and live leaderboard. The content may refer to the brand, industry or conference topics. The format can therefore remain entertaining while still benefiting from the context of the event.
The standard production lasts three hours, while the Premium package allows the running time and show structure to be tailored. If you need a shorter stage segment, confirm this before requesting a quote; a standard package cannot automatically be reduced to any duration.
Requirements that are worth checking before signing the contract
The organiser should confirm:
1st place of attraction on the agenda, 2. assembly and testing time, 3. access to the stage or playing zone, 4. screen visibility, 5. how the supplier will coordinate with the main technical team, 6. number of active participants, 7. driving language, 8. scope of branding and dedicated content, 9. the decision-maker on the organiser's side, 10. contingency plan for schedule changes.
For a conference at company premises, add the technical requirements for an office game show to this checklist.
Frequently asked questions
Can a game show refer to a lecture?
Yes. Depending on the package, you can prepare dedicated questions and categories related to the conference topic. Content should be provided and approved at the preparation stage.
Does Rewanż provide hosts and equipment?
Yes. Rewanż is a complete production with professional hosts, physical controllers, the game app and technical support — not simply quiz software.
Can the event be held in English?
An English-language version is available as an additional option, with the exact scope agreed in advance.
Can a game show be just a part of the conference?
Yes, if its time, assembly and requirements are combined with the main agenda. Ask about the Rewanż game show for the conference.
